Slight food price hike expected 1971 outlook
Washington forecasts show retail food prices edging up only slightly in coming months as farm supplies stay heavy. For 1971 overall, prices may average 2 to 3 percent above 1970, with net farm income dropping from last year's 15.8 billion. Strong restaurant price gains and service costs could lift overall costs more than farm groceries. The report notes uncertainty from a new farm program and corn blight fears.
