Avon Landmark Demolished Despite Historic Listing on Chester Road
Avon landmark demolition approved for a 1916 house at 37902 Chester Road after owners and developers cited deplorable conditions. The Avon Landmarks Preservation Commission learned the property had historic status and worked with Frank Klingshirn’s attorney and Empowered Community Services to relocate the family and plan a new facility. Former Chair Matt Smith noted the need for owners to file paperwork to list or remove landmarks and reviewed the city process for designation.
