Elyria extends LifeCare ambulance contract four years

Birthday salute to Gen Johnnie Wilson at Lorain middle school
Lorain Middle School students honored Gen Johnnie Wilson on his 80th birthday with a Zoom assembly in the gym. Wilson, a Lorain native who joined the Army in 1961 and became commanding general of the U S Army Materiel Command, retired in 1999. The building was named for him in the early 2000s.

Lorain approves new fire department contract through 2025
Lorain City Council unanimously approved a contract with the Lorain Professional Fire Fighters Local 267 retroactive to January 1 2023. The agreement gives a 12.6 percent base pay raise for 2023 then 2 percent raises in 2024 and 2025. The package changes longevity pay for hires after January 1 and mirrors terms similar to the December police contract.
