Louvre Reopens After Louvre Attack by Egyptian Suspect
The LouvreMuseum reopened on Saturday after a machete assault by an Egyptian-born man near guards. Police shot the attacker four times. his injuries were not life threatening. President Hollande called it a terror act and the suspect, Abdullah Reda Refaie al Hamahmy, was identified by Egyptian officials as 28 years old. He had lived in the UAE and arrived in Paris on Jan 26 on a tourist visa. He bought two military machetes and paid 1834 for a week at a Paris apartment near Champs-Elysees. Visitors expressed mixed feelings as security increased outside the museum. The UAE condemned the attack and offered solidarity with France.
