A 13-year-old seventh grader admitted making a bomb threat to North Ridgeville Middle School. He will be charged with inducing panic and referred to Lorain County Juvenile Court. The incident prompted a building search and outdoor waiting for students with no delays.
U S District Judge Susan Dlott dismissed Phi Kappa Tau's $10 million suit against Miami University in Cincinnati with prejudice for lack of facts supporting claims of unconstitutional search and seizure and due process. The judge denied transferring the case to remove the university and add top officials.
Lorain City Council approves renaming Osborn Avenue from West 11th Street to South Lakeview Boulevard as Eric Barnes Avenue in memory of Air Force Airman 1st Class Eric Barnes killed in Iraq in 2007. Dan McBennett, Lorain firefighter and Ohio Air National Guard member, helped push the tribute after seeing Barnes’s road sign in Kuwait. Barnes was a 2004 Admiral King High School graduate.
