The Lorain County Youth Orchestras under John Naskiewicz and Bonnie Hudson delivered an outstanding Elyria High School concert. The Philharmonia for high schoolers and the training orchestra for younger students showcased strong technique in Mussorgsky’s Pictures At An Exhibition, aided by CIM students from Cleveland. The program will repeat next Sunday at Lorain Catholic High.

Ford opens Avon Lake truck plant this fall
Ford Motor Co announces operations at the Avon Lake Ohio Truck Plant will begin by September 1 as part of Lorain Assembly. C. F. Hancock will oversee the $70 000 square foot facility renovated for Econoline painting and body shells will move to Avon Lake and back to Lorain for final assembly. The project includes a $3 million Econoline assembly line expansion in Lorain and is expected to create about 500 jobs. Ford paid $437 million for the Avon Lake plant per county records.
