Horse race fixing probe goes international in scope
An FBI and RCMP investigation into possible horse race fixing expands beyond the United States to Canada. Four Canadians, including harness drivers, were arrested at Windsor Raceway in Ontario. In the U S, more than 20 jockeys, drivers, and trainers from Midwest tracks were subpoenaed in Columbus as part of a grand jury inquiry. No charges released yet. Authorities say the probe targets trifecta bets and related gambling networks.

Riggins a credit to all taxpayers and legends of sport
The piece catalogs pop culture figures and sports names as potential nominees for endorsement or satire, then argues Washington and Lincoln deserve reverent memory for public figures like John Riggins.
