Burger King’s Darling rises from assistant manager to president
Miami based Burger King executives elevated Jay Darling to president and chief operating officer of the Pillsbury subsidiary as of May 31. Darling, 36, moved from executive VP to oversee operations after a career path from restaurant manager to district and regional leader. He attributes his rapid ascent to peer support and management style alignment with chairman J Campbell. Darling grew up on Long Island, briefly attended NYIT, and joined Burger King via a franchise job after a police trainee stint, later climbing without finishing college.
