Federal agents questioned six survivors of the last cruise of the yacht Aaffe after a pirate mutiny ended in murder aboard near San Clemente Island. Jack Morgan, a 45 year old adventurer with a 17 year old wife, shot skipper Dwight Faulding and took control, imprisoning passengers before being overpowered by a crew member. The Coast Guard towed the derelict vessel to harbor as details emerged from survivors and a naval inquiry.

Mrs Ida May Mitchell aged 87 died at the Elyria Home for the Aged after a lingering illness. She served as conference secretary of the Women's Foreign Missionary Society and was the widow of Rev John Mitchell former superintendent of the Cleveland district. Funeral at 1 30 pm Monday at the Elyria Home for the Aged officiated by Dr E Bond burial in Riverside Cemetery Cleveland. The body lies at Taylor Funeral Home before transfer to the Home for the Aged.

PORT AUSTIN Mich Dec 31 Lieut Col Charles Pierson was speechless for two decades after a World War I machine gun wound to the throat. Early this week he coughed and dislodged a blood clot, and within hours he whispered. Physicians expect his normal speech to return in a few months as his voice grows stronger.
