Death by own action plan ends in plane crash near Sweetwater
William Cox a 24 year old rancher from Sweetwater Texas performed a suicide in a Cessna 170 after radio pleas from friends and officials failed to deter him. He circled the Hillsdale gravel pit for more than four hours refusing to land and finally dove the plane into the pit at 400 feet. Cox acknowledged things were messed up and said he would fly until fuel ran out. An investigation by the CAA was planned to examine his pilot record aircraft condition and reasons for his action.
