Former Elyrian Named General Superintendent at Utah Steel Plant
Peer J Nielsen, a former Elyrian, is described as a 39 year old production wizard and named general superintendent of Geneva Steel Works in Utah. The plant, the first fully integrated steel facility in the Rockies, was announced by Benjamar F Fairless of US Steel. Nielsen, a Lehigh graduate, is married with four sons and a daughter and resides near Salt Lake City.

A meeting to summarize 1944 farm accounts kept by 71 Lorain County farmers was announced today by County Agricultural Extension Agent Cor Hummel. An evening session on May day was proposed for farmers who want to shift accounts and have kept them before. The extension office has farm account books available for enrollment next year. Interest in the project has grown in recent years.

AC Leland B. thardy 21 son of Mr. and Mrs. Wardy of RL Lt Butternut Ridge road received his wings and commission Saturday as Flight Officer at Aloe Army Airfield Victoria Texas where he is stationed. He was inducted in January 1943 with a Tank Destroyer Battalion, trained at Camp Hood and Camp Jane, transferred to the Army Air Corps in May 1943 at San Antonio. He has trained at Sheppard Field Chickasha Enid and Tulsa University Tulsa. We will pilot a single engine type plane. F C Hardy attended Flyvia High School and worked at J H Sheppard Company on Grafton road before service.
