Convicted executive in $1.9B fraud fights innocence in court
Rebecca Parrett, a 62 year old who fled to Mexico after being convicted of securities fraud and related crimes in a National Century Financial Enterprises scheme, told a Columbus federal judge she may have erred but did not break laws. Judge Marbley ordered her to begin a 25 year sentence in absentia. Parrett insisted her innocence and spoke of illness and attempted death in Mexico. Her son urged understanding as officials noted payments and moves to Mexico. Linda Case was sentenced earlier for lying to investigators connected to Parrett’s case.
