Eight Trucks Deliver Bags Of Good Things To Eat

Elyria residents received Christmas dinners through a Not an Empty Stocking campaign. Eight trucks carried bags with all makings for a complete meal to about 250 needy families. Wakeman Couple Severely Hurt In Icy Ohio Crash

Mr and Mrs George Stoll of Wakeman were injured when their car skidded on an icy road eight miles northwest of West Jefferson near Columbus. They planned to winter in Daytona Florida but the crash left them with fractured ribs facial abrasions and a broken shoulder. They were taken to Norwalk Hospital and reported resting comfortably.

Fremont Man to Observe 100th Birthday On Christmas Day

Fremont, O. December 24. Civil War veteran Capt Wanson R Bowlus turns 100 on Christmas Day with a quiet home celebration hosted by his son Willis M Bowlus in Fremont. Born December 25, 1835, he recalls a village then called Lower Sandusky near Fort Stephenson and notes politics of voting the Republican ticket straight for Lincoln to Hoover.

Elyria city and Lorain County workers received an early Christmas payday totaling about 20 000. About 4 225 goes to 190 mothers with pensions. City payroll near 6 200, county total around 14 000 including pensions. County office holders also received advance checks. regular paydays are the 1st and 16th.

President and Mrs Roosevelt Busy Santa Clauses at White House

President and Mrs Roosevelt spent Christmas Eve delivering joy to children at a downtown theater and later greeted staff at the White House. Buzzie Dall and Anna Eleanor remain in New York, while Mrs Boettiger and her husband miss the festivities. The couple planned a 2:30 pm staff party in the East Room with gifts for each family, a 5 pm lighting of the Lafayette Square Christmas tree, and a nationwide broadcast of the ceremonies.
