An official naval board of inquiry will be convened at once to determine responsibility for the seaplane accident at the Hampton Roads Naval Air Station. The crash killed three enlisted men and a civilian, plus an officer, with others narrowly escaping.
In New Orleans a lone bandit robbed the Marine Trust Company on Frenchman Street, escaping with $13,000 after fatally shooting Patrolman Jacob Uhle. In Chicago a pawnbroker was robbed of $16,000 in jewelry and $500 cash after a refused loan. The city faced a wave of crimes with multiple robberies and two detectives killed or wounded amid a string of hold ups at Sheridan Park Club and Park Way Hotel.
A jury found pastor lover Hight guilty in a Mount Vernon murder case. Twelve men deliberated overnight and returned the verdict at 8 45 this morning. Hight faces a life sentence while Mrs Sweets is ordered to serve 35 years in the state penitentiary.
On December 24 the Salvation Army distributed two hundred food baskets to needy families in Lorain. A large crowd of children required police presence to maintain order while collecting aid. Later the Elks plan a dinner for 250 poor children at their hall amid growing city need.

Also: Robert Flynn fined 1 for intoxication after midnight arrest on Lake Avenue, and Donald Skelly fined 28 for overloaded Brockway truck entering from Berea with 71,300 pounds.
This evening at 700 the Young Men's Business Club hosts the annual Christmas party for Elyria children. All Elyria children are invited to attend as popcorn balls are handed out and Christmas carols are sung.
Patrolmen Lee Johnson and James Faulhaber are off duty on Christmas Day while the remainder of the force works. Police and firemen have received their pay aiding a festive holiday. Fireman Emil Mischka is granted a week's leave to visit his parents in Wisconsin.
Clyde Phil lips of 118 Elizabeth Street was fined 1 dollar and costs after pleading guilty to disorderly conduct for an assault on Eli Sullivan barn man at the Charles Wise stable. Sullivan reported at Police headquarters with a blackened eye following the Monday night incident.
Funeral services for Mrs Adelia Nichols will be held at 641 West Broad Street at 2 o clock Friday afternoon. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery, with arrangements announced by the Noiie.

Clerks at the Common Pleas Court shared a festive afternoon in County Clerk Mabel Marsh’s office distributing gifts to staff and enjoying a cheerful gathering. A separate traffic collision occurred on West Avenue near Tremont R Street involving Gust Koehn and Milton Lear. damage was slight.
William H H Anderson former State superintendent of the anti saloon league was paroled from Sing Sing and immediately taken into custody on warrants charging grand larceny and extortion. He had served nine months of an indeterminate sentence on a forgery charge. Rev Charles F Ross and Detective Paul Kane accompanied him to New York for arraignment.
Postmaster J W McHenry reports the Elyria post office handled the heaviest Christmas mail in its history. The facility canceled 46 600 letters on Monday and 50 100 on Tuesday and staff hand stamped many letters and packages. Deliveries of belated mail were not expected as operations proceeded smoothly.
In Jersey City on December 24 Mrs Sophia Alexandrowicz 28 a mother of five was found beaten beside her bed by her husband Adam Alexandrowicz who was questioned by police. The 13 year old son John told authorities the husband returned from work at six and quarrelled over housework before attacking his mother.
Margarat Loop, 48, told police she shot and killed her husband Jacob Loop, 56, a carpenter, in Cincinnati. Two sons witnessed the shooting and neighbors recall a prior disorderly conduct arrest after Loop claimed his wife beat him.
A 22 year old Carlisle man confessed to sheriff officers that he murdered his six months old baby. Deputies report the admission was made today during questioning at the county jail.
A man surrendered voluntarily and said he would not reveal details. Deputies found Mrs. Rudd grieving over her baby's body at the family home. A post mortem is scheduled for today.
Mrs Hilma Barnes Ensminger of Columbia Mississippi was arrested on charges of attempted murder for sending poisoned candy to her stepson George E Ensminger Jr six in New York. District Attorney Archibald M Laidlaw announced she will be brought to Cattaraugus County for trial.
Chicago reports a possible halt in the William McClintock death inquiry due to lack of funds as coroner Oscar Wolff seeks permission to exhume the body for a post mortem. The 21 year old heir, called Billy, died of hemorrhagic typhoid linked to oysters, on the eve of his planned marriage.
