Obama pushes carbon capture to boost oil output
The carbon capture program, touted as cleaning coal plants, allows CO2 from the Kemper County plant to be sold to oil firms for enhanced oil recovery. This trade off supports domestic oil, boosts jobs, and raises questions about true environmental benefits and regulatory safeguards. Denbury Resources and others already use CO2 for oil and may expand with new plant sales.
