The EPA mandate, issued in 1988, aims to prevent ground water contamination, with about 20,000 stations nationwide expected to pause gas sales temporarily and fines up to 11,000 dollars per day for noncompliance.

A 33 year old shopper Laura Donaldson was abducted from the Kmart parking lot near Midway Mall in Elyria. She described a gun wielding suspect, was dropped at an Elyria apartment complex around 10 p.m. and was unharmed. Police are seeking the suspect.
A contagious bacterial infection masked by flu like symptoms has infected at least 48 people in Lorain County over three months. Elyria health commissioner Kathryn C Boylan reported 37 Elyria cases since Oct 24. Shigella spreads by unwashed hands contaminating food and water. Symptoms include diarrhea fever vomiting and abdominal cramps lasting about a week.
