Cpl. James E. Murray, who dined with President-elect Eisenhower on the Korean front, was killed five nights later in no-man's land while leading a patrol against Communist forces. The Porum Oklahoma native had Bronze Star honors and served with the 1st Battalion, 15th Regiment in Eisenhower's former command.
