In Cleveland a 35 year old father of four, John E. Fitzpatrick, was stabbed five times by a 21 year old man while waiting in line to see Santa at Higbee's department store. Kurt Waldheim an Austrian diplomat was chosen to be the United Nations secretary general for the next five years.
