Lorain County deputies conducted a sweep visiting ten southern area locations to curb punchboards and other gambling devices. One arrest was made at RH. A. Hewitt’s Route 18 gas station west of Penfield after four punchboards were found. Hewitt pled guilty to exhibiting gambling devices and paid a $50 fine plus costs. Officers also seized several beer cans amid complaints Hewitt sold beer without a license. The investigation, including a slot machine inquiry, will expand countywide to stop open gambling.
