Moffett urges more planes for America
Admiral William A. Moffett, head of naval aeronautics, urged Congress to authorize a larger airplane production for the Navy to sustain private manufacturers. He warned the aviation industry’s future depends on a reasonable volume of orders, and called for early construction of aircraft carriers to the full treaty limit. He also pressed for a large seaplane tender at Pearl Harbor and Corozal, plus expansion of flying fields and modernization of naval air stations.
