Ohio deer hunt season offers last chance before year end
Ohio announces a statewide weeklong primitive arms deer season from December 26 to January 2 to use up unused tags as deer populations grow. With 99,550 deer tagged in the gun season, a 13 percent drop from last year, officials cite wet fall corn and weather as factors and urge hunters to test muzzleloaders, stock powder, carry field charges, stay visible in hunter orange, and follow safety guidelines with instructors Steve Beiser and George Yovanovich leading education efforts.

Dream fishing trip yields 66 bass on Lake Tohopekaliga
Joe Lewis of St. Cloud and University of Florida coach Bob Moore achieved a record four day catch on a 50 yard vegetation ledge at Lake Toho. Using five shiners they released 66 bass with several weighing 6 to 7 pounds and a few over 12. Moore called the day a zone moment as water cooled to 65 degrees. They released all fish unharmed to preserve the fishery.
