Presidents and Religion Part I in Early Nation
The Chronicle-Telegram outlines how early presidents linked faith with public life, noting John Adams, James Madison, James Monroe, George Washington, and Thomas Jefferson as religiously diverse yet not dogmatic. Jefferson’s Bible, Episcopal ties, and public prayers are highlighted alongside Madison’s Bill of Rights defense of religious liberty and Washington’s tenure as chaplain-supported commander and Thanksgiving proclamation. The syndrome tale from Elyria High School athlete
A Elyria High School senior on the championship wrestling team describes the onset of a rare syndrome starting with tingling hands and progressing to paralysis. After a week, Medina Hospital diagnosed the condition, and a five day spinal tap confirmed it. He spent over two months hospitalized, relied on a respirator, and faced a rough recovery but regained abilities by summer. He rejects swine flu vaccination despite the reports. News brief also notes a Thai 11th century stoneware jar in Southeast Asian Ceramics exhibit touring U.S. museums in 1977.
