Seek Identity Of Man Who Leaped To Death In Stack
Canton police sought the identity of a man who climbed a 65 foot steel smoke stack at the Carnegie Illinois Steel Corp plant and plunged to his death inside the stack. The body was burned beyond recognition when workers reached the base after the furnace was shut down. Coroner Edward C. Reno hoped for identification and said no employee was assigned to work on the chimney.

Hugh Huntington, Columbus attorney and executor, announced the gift to the university’s development fund.
