IBM plans stock split and dividend boost
IBM announced a 4-for-1 stock split for next spring and raised its quarterly dividend from 2.88 to 3.44 a share. The move came as the market recovered from Monday’s decline caused by OPEC price increases. Amid the rally, grain prices across Ohio showed mixed moves with corn and oats largely steady and soybeans rising in some markets.

Finley on finance years may be wrong
The piece argues that recession fears in 1979 could curb spending on durable goods and raise debt, yet warns a dip in consumer outlays might already be priced into stocks. It notes automaker stocks show low price-earnings multiples despite forecasts and that lower inflation could lift valuations.
