Patrols credited for Elyria traffic record this year
Lorain County authorities report fewer accidents and deaths on Elyria streets due to concentrated patrols and cautious driving. State patrols, sheriff patrols, and local police note slowed speeds from radar cruisers and shorter detours to keep officers on the road. Three people died on Elyria streets this year, with one on the Ohio Turnpike, but overall traffic fatalities are at a 10 year low. The Carcross Skagway highway project in Alaska will add 33.6 miles of road by 1976 at a $10 million cost to connect to the Alaska segment.
