The local post office moved toward peak Christmas mail volume with 121000 letters processed and an expected total around 136000 on the busiest day of 1945. Additional 3000 to 4000 letters were metered rather than canceled. officials cite delays and high activity as key factors.

Katherine Rose Noll died at her home on the Avens Belden road North Weidgeville on Thursday at 426 pm following a stroke she suffered Friday. Born February 2, 1888 in Cleveland, she had lived in Lorain County 30 years and was a member of St Peters Church Altac and Rosary Society Ladies Auxiliary Knights of St John. Survived by husband four sons Raymand Bernard Richard of Redgevalte George of Detont two daughters Mes Tara Fitzpatrick of BaGrangge and Mrs diene Cannes of Natit Aines Vaile two brothers George Sehweda Cleveland and Leonard Seeacke North Ridgeville two sisters Joseph Steycees dd ancers Apna heart Cleveland and also guy Nive. Funeral arrangements to be announced by Peters Cemetery.

Seventy five couples attended as Lieut Comdr B C Keyes reported. films included Crossroads and Devastation at the Philippines with Navy ships, planes, and landings depicted amid naval party festivities.
Cleveland School Board approved a new 1947 salary schedule with cost of living raises ranging from 150 to 400 dollars. About 2400 teachers will receive a 300 dollar raise, plus adjustments for 90 non classroom employees and administrators. Taxpayers face about 70 thousand dollars in increased costs.
Wellington council meets in the mayor's court room to consider funding for a Wellington Grafton line with a $10,000 O. P. loan, possible power rates, fire equipment orders, park toll removal for American Legion, an office sign at Dr Gregg building, a plumbers’ permit, and a candy company court-ordered restraint in interstate shipping.

Veronica Smith was granted a divorce from George on cruelty grounds. Custody of their children awarded to Smith with $15 weekly support. A separate suit by Lillia Abbott of Wadsworth against Carl, filed in Medina county, was transferred for trial.
In Akron area a legal filing claims farmers Mike Foo and Peter C. Zuni Jr. lost 6 acres of land due to an overflow affecting their dining area. The suit, filed in Barberton court, names Dr Jasper Cayce and Dr Earl Barnes of Wooster Experimental Station as involved parties. Plaintiffs sought eighteen thousand dollars in damages.
The December meeting of the Canteen Corps of the local Red Cross chapter was a Christus party at the YWCA. Miss Edna Schropp spoke on the chapter’s work. After business, Mrs Townsend read The Christmas Story from Luke and Miss Ida Cuffland read The Latte Mixer.

Ohio Governor Frank Lausche met with President Truman in Washington. He said the talk covered efforts to purchase the Cainy bridge State Hospital, held by the state and leased from the federal government. Officials indicated federal positions on the FCC and ICC would be filled soon. The War Assets Administration said hospital property would be reviewed within weeks, leading to a final decision on terms.
Police received two theft reports involving car accessories. A hub cap valued at $10 was stolen from a car on Third Street near Court in Marsh. A fender valued at $25 was stolen from another car on Sixth Street near the high school.
At Fort Knox a car crash left one person dead and two others injured. Authorities identified the deceased as Carl Wilder and noted the two injured were transported to a hospital. The wreck occurred near the intersection of Bales Road and Hirth 8W, with funeral arrangements planned for the deceased.
