In Cleveland on December 18, Newton D. Baker former wartime secretary of war under Wilson and noted corporation attorney was treated for a recurrence of a heart condition. Mrs. Baker said he suffered another slight thrombosis while a physician and nurse were summoned to his home. He had recently resigned trusteeships at Ohio State and Western Reserve Universities after a July cerebral thrombosis.
