At a sentencing hearing in Elyria the uncle of slain Holly Dembie confronted killer William Dembie Jr. after Dembie attacked the victim’s mother Cheryl Foldes. The confrontation included a shouted outburst as the court session proceeded.
Elyria elected officials must decide whether to place a library levy on the May ballot. They paused on becoming the library tax authority, citing the need to assess the city’s own financial future. The council also weighs funding plans for 23 firefighters and four police officers whose salaries rely on expiring federal grants in 2014.
