Town Talk and Holiday News From St Marys Parish

Mir Cebula arrives home from Ohio Strate University for holidays and travels with Larry Massey of Columbus as house guest. St Marys Altar and Rosary Society to hold benediction at 3 pm Thursday before Christmas party at St Pauls Hall. Mary Ellen Rose, daughter of Bri end Rose, to perform with Ohio University Symphony Orchestra at Christmas concert. Mary Ellen, Elyria High graduate, earns sophomore music prize and plays flute in OU band. Mr and Mrs George Moore host 6th birthday dinner party for son Leland G Moore with daughters and families at Rathwell residence 130 Grafton Rd. Guests include Mr David Dewey and William Miller of Oberlin. Mrs Dewey bakes birthday cake and a home movie shown. Daughters of St Andrew to meet tomorrow at 6:30 pm for tureen dinner in parish hall.

Christmases Of the Past Featured At Lorain Meeting

Lorain County Historical Society held a "Christmas of the long ago" program in the Wick Room of the First Congregational Church. George Metcalf described antique toys while Mrs. Ed Gates displayed Day and Gates family items and read two Christmas stories. A. P. L. O'Donnell and Mrs. Jack Huge sang carols as members recalled fond Christmas memories. The tea featured holiday treats and the next meeting is set for January 11.

Meaning of Christmas Explored by Catholic Daughters Court 365

Rev. Martin Engelhardt spoke on the true meaning of Christmas at a Catholic Daughters of America meeting. The group presented a gift to Father Engelhardt, performed The Music of Bethlehem, and hosted a Christmas clothing shower for Katherine Faulkner’s family. Members and officers led the program and distributed prizes and refreshments.

Elyria High School Christmas Formal Planned

The Elyria High School annual Christmas dance is set for December 28 from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. The theme is "Silver Sunset" with silver and gray decor. Music by Crick Heck and his Continental Encores. Senior Y-Teens oversee the event and tickets are sold by members.

Elyria Woman's Club Chorus Presents Christmas Tableaux

Social Progress Department of the Elyria Woman's Club convened last night in Monteith Hall for a Christmas musical program by the Elyria Woman's Club Chorus directed by Mrs. Louis Kolopus. The program featured The Story Of The First Christmas with narrators, slides, carols, and selections such as O Holy Night and We Three Kings, with Mrs. Finegan and the chorus. New members Mrs. Herman Frankel Mrs. Anthony Mascia and Mrs. Leonard Payner joined. tickets go on sale by Monday with prize drawings including trips to St. Petersburg and Daytona Beach.

Decorations At Two O Clock Club Christmas Party

The Two O Clock Club held its annual Christmas party at the YWCA Residence with perfect attendance. Mrs. Herold Starkey read the Christmas Story and Mrs. George Smith demonstrated home decorations. The club donated two baskets and silts for a needy family to be distributed by the welfare board. Refreshments at two tables in Yale colors were served with Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Ed Fell presiding. Hostesses included Mrs. Walter Botamer, Mrs. W. J. Albrecht, Mrs. Julius Nyvarges and Mrs. William Colley.

Women of Churches and Guilds Share Christmas Program

Members of the Methodist and Mayflower groups hosted a Christmas gathering with circle chairs, hostesses, and readings. The Newcomers Chorus performed selections at Wesley House, with a program including “Twas the Night Before Christmas” and “White Christmas.” Proceeds from ribbon candy sales support a Wes project and Christmas relief efforts.
