Falcon Motors plans 35000 cars next year

Falcon Motors Corporation nears completion of new machinery and staffing for expanded Falcon Knight production. Six month output April to September reached about 10000 cars as the dealer network grew. Officials say strong demand and an enlarged dealer base will absorb the higher output with room for further expansion if needed.

Wilbur seeks new naval ships in large building program

Secretary of the Navy Wilbur sent a naval building program to Congress totaling nearly 800 million dollars. It calls for 2 light cruisers 9 destroyer leaders 4 submarines and 6 aircraft carriers with no set construction time. The bill ties cruiser and carrier construction to the 1922 Washington arms treaty and lets the president suspend all or part of the plan at his discretion.

Pekras Elected To Head County Greek Society

John Pekras of Elyria was elected president of the Greek Orthodox Community Association at a Lorain Pantheon Theater meeting. Other officers from Lorain include Peter Tender as vice president Christ Dellis as treasurer and Angelo Pappas as secretary. The group has several hundred members across Lorain and Elyria.

Former Elyria Girl Hurt In Auto Crash

Mrs Orcutt daughter of G H Garford of Columbus street and sister of Elyria High School teacher suffered cuts and bruises in the crash near Marion. Mr Orcutt, a high school principal, had a fractured shoulder and more serious injuries. Liquor flowed freely in Marion as a man claiming to be Ralph Terra, driving a coach with 175 gallons of whiskey, fled and collided with Orcutt’s car injuring both occupants.

Alligator at Large Drowns in Fire Station Cellar

A seven foot park alligator nicknamed Mutt was found dead in the basement of Fire Station No. 3 after water rose in the cellar. Fire officials warned of cautious entry while noting the creature’s ferocious reputation and the 35 goldfish escaped from their tank as the floodwater climbed.

Rotary club hears talk by former district head

Former district governor Clarence H. Collings of Cleveland addressed the Elyria Rotary Club at the Newell hotel yesterday noon. Improvements At Elyria Memorial Hospital Authorized By Trustees

Regular monthly meeting of the Elyria Memorial Hospital board of trustees approved plans to upgrade patient care services. Over the past year two thousand dollars of electrical equipment has been added to the physical therapy department and another two thousand dollars to the laboratory. The board authorized hiring a medical director to oversee x ray and physical therapy, with candidates expected to start by February 1. Dr Maurice Rosenzweig has expanded the laboratory work since July 1 1927 with Miss Gladys L Fredericks as assistant, and a second lab assistant was approved. Plans aim to extend laboratory service county wide and expand crippled children programs.
