Farouk’s sister slain. husband shoots self in attempted murder case
Fathia Ghali, once stripped of royal title after marrying a commoner, was found dead in a West Los Angeles apartment. Her estranged husband Riad Ghali, 56, was injured and jailed on suspicion of murder as investigators said a small pistol was found at the scene. The couple’s turbulent 1960s marriage ended in 1965, with Ghali later reportedly failing to support his wife and mother-in-law. Financial strain and bankruptcy proceedings marked the couple’s later years.
