Christmas gift mail theft on loading dock investigated

Packages containing Christmas gifts bound for the West Coast were stolen after thieves accessed bags on trucks at the loading dock. NY Central police suspect juveniles. Conductor Mayle found opened mail near the rail yard and several parcels with San Diego and Newberry addresses were recovered along tracks. Postmaster Jenner noted mail theft is a federal offense. irregular shipment had left the post office the previous evening.

Four Hurt in Intersection Collision on Highways 76 and 82

Four people were injured in a late night crash at the Route 76 and Route 82 intersection. Glenn and Margaret Tompkins of R D Grafton were treated for injuries and released. James Vance and Arnold McClung of Avon Lake were taken to Elyria Memorial Hospital. Vance and McClung were reported as fair and undergoing X rays and treatment.
