Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Elyria History Chronicle
The Elyria Emmanuel Lutheran Church began as a fledgling congregation in 1928 with Rev. J. S. Herold preaching at its first service in the Elyria Woman's Club House. Led by pastor Sayles, the church grew, built property, formed building committees, and completed a parsonage, with aid from the Board of Home Missions and other bodies. Groundbreaking occurred in 1931 and corner stone laid in 1941, culminating in a realized church under the Synod of Ohio and United Lutheran Church in America.
