Volcker Rule aims to curb banks proprietary trading
Regulators from the Fed FDIC SEC CFTC and OCC approve the Volcker Rule to ban banks from most proprietary trading and curb risk after the 2008 crisis. The 920 page rule, named for former Fed chair Paul Volcker, offers exemptions and enforcement begins in 2015 with banks showing steps toward compliance.
