Farmer kills banker after check refused overdrawn account
In Iowa, 63 year old Dale Burr shot Hills Bank president John Hughes after being told his check could not be cashed due to an overdrawn account. Burr then killed farmer Richard Goody and later died by suicide in his pickup. Goody’s death followed a broader string of violence and distress cited by neighbors and family.
