Lorain taxes proposed to fund improvements split with schools

Safety Director Robert Fowler described a plan involving properties on Grove Oberlin and Meister Roads that would reduce Lorain Schools funding by about 6 000 annually and Clearview Schools by 2 000. The proposal would let 75 percent of new revenue be kept for 10 years while city and schools split 50 50 for 20 years, after which districts receive the full amount. Some board members oppose, citing it as a money grab and risk to future levies.
