Elyria officer faces charges amid protection order case
TOSSED From Al Orsik is also accused of soliciting sex from women and other misconduct. He has pleaded not guilty to the felony and misdemeanor charges and is on paid leave while Elyria police complete an internal investigation. The woman who had sought the protection order said she was disappointed by Vanek's decision, but felt the no contact order would be enough to keep Orsik away from her. She also said more evidence would come out later that would back up her allegations. "It'll all come out in the laundry, that's the way I look at it," she said. Orsik's defense attorney Kenneth Lieux said his client has no intention of going anywhere near the woman. "Given the testimony, I'm not surprised," Lieux said. The woman had said she approached Elyria police because she was concerned about a relative's involvement with drugs and Orsik was one of the officers she was told to talk to. A few weeks later, she testified, Orsik contacted her and asked to stop by her house, where he allegedly told her he found her attractive and asked her to have sex. The woman said she refused, but Orsik continued to pursue her through calls, texts and driving by her house. She also said he had peeped in her windows. Sioux had argued Monday that the woman had no evidence to back up her claims and that even if Orsik had inquired about having sex, it was more like he was seeing if she might be attracted to him as well.
