Washington reports that President Wilsons resettlement proposal for the coal strike was approved today by United Mine Workers representatives, effectively ending the nationwide walkout. Attorney General Palmer transmitted the message confirming the agreement.
Two bandits attempted a bank robbery in Orwell Ohio but were caught by Sheriff Eldred and deputies. A shot was fired, two bandits were killed and a third wounded as they fled from the vault area. An outside lookout was shot at, but the posse continued pursuit and captured the remaining suspect. A store employee provided a tip leading to the heist plot.
Chas White son of Councilman Edward White and Edith Jones held in county jail on May 8 awaiting grand jury action in the Billy Dansey murder case. White and Jones pleaded not guilty to murder and accessory charges after being arrested following the discovery of Billy Dansey’s body in a swamp near Amtown on November 21. White, 29, owner of a dahli a farm and linked to the boy’s last sighting, and Jones, 63, housekeeper, were held on bail. The missing boy had vanished October 8 prompting a wide search.
Washington reports continued activity in the Mexican situation as the State Department awaited the Mexican reply to the latest American note on the Vine case. Delegates in Mexico City discussed developments, with Foreign Relations temporarily postponed further action on the Mexican question amid ongoing diplomatic exchanges.
Vijria merchants celebrated their second annual dollar day sale with extensive bargains publicized through the Chronicle Telegram. Washington announces drastic fuel economy rules in face of a looming bituminous coal strike. Garfield orders limits that curtail street lighting, office heat, and industrial power. Plants may operate only three days a week unless producing essential products or using anthracite or other fuels. Soft coal users with stock are largely protected.
The railroad administration announces wartime fuel restrictions to cut nonessential lighting. Stores, streets, and signs must dim or shut off lights after set hours, with exemptions for safety, food, and critical operations. Power use limited to keep temperatures and essential services stable.
The county treasurer's office will open for tax collection for 1914 and stay open until January 20, 1924. Revaluations and blanket increases by the commission of Ohio delayed work in the auditor and treasurer offices. Taxpayers are urged not to ask for Elyria tax statements before December 20. Chief Deputy Ludwik notes that due to high demand, mail acknowledgments for tax statements will not be made until after December 20.

National committee meets tomorrow to choose the convention site and time while organizers push for Wood Lowden Poindexter and Johnson backing.

New York dispatch reports radical agitation not from economics but an organized anti state movement inspired by the Russian Soviet government. Washington dispatches report Secretary Wilson sent a telegram to John L Lewis urging United Mine Workers to accept President Wilson’s settlement proposal for the soft coal strike. Miners’ representatives will vote on the proposal this afternoon in Indianapolis. The President says the plan provides a way out with honor for both government and miners.
Indianapolis December 9 Hearing on contempt charges against 84 United Mine Workers of America officials was postponed. Judge Anderson will rule after miners leaders meet to consider President Wilson's plan to end the nationwide strike. Reports of a 20 percent wage increase settlement surfaced but were denied by Associated Press and ticker services.

An encited national appeared at police headquarters reporting last night he was robbed of a coat a $78 check and a harness part. Louis Market said he lived on Tony Novak's farm near the B and O tracks. He notified Lorain County Bank and bank janitor. Police obtained a suspect description. A fractured hip patient died after shock. Mrs Mapes a long time city resident died, survived by a daughter. Beebe Funeral at home Wednesday at 2pm conducted by Rev John Grant Bu. private.
Mrs. Marietta Mapes died at her home on 626 West Broad Street after a fractured hip she suffered nine weeks earlier. She was in her 76th year and widow of the late George H. Mapes.
Mayor Jones and city officials, including the City Solicitor, will travel to Columbus to attend a Supreme Court hearing initiated by Athens against Logan Natural Gas Co. Athens won an injunction preventing service interruption, with rate questions to be decided. The Athens delegation seeks input on potential rate changes.
The Flyria Steel Products Co awaiting start on Jackson Road in Acethara part of town makes progress in erection of bolhalage foundations are in and the main greeters begun. A switch has been laid to the B and O tracks for easy access. The company will produce automobile frames and other stamping with sufficient stock for this year’s output.
Brackett Hecock a well known real estate dealer died at Memorial Hospital after his auto truck was struck by a Green Street car on Lake Avenue. He died without regaining consciousness and is survived by his wife and his aged father. Eyewitnesses say he was driving at high speed toward his home outside the city limits when the street car struck his vehicle as it entered the driveway. The wreck hurled the car and Hecock, who was attended by friends, to the hospital where doctors reported severe injuries and uncertain chances of recovery. Hecock had been engaged to Miss Elyria Lamber for about three years.
