LeMay Says End Viet War By Winning It
Retired Air Force Chief Gen. Curtis LeMay told 250 people in Mount Vernon that the only way to end the Vietnam War is to win, urging stepped up bombing of North Vietnam and the closing of Haiphong with mines and dock destruction. He warned against nuclear use but would not promise it. LeMay tied his Pearl Harbor Day remarks to national defense and rejected politics as a motive while saying he would serve if called.
