Oberlin students join Cleveland draft protest at federal building
About 300 anti war demonstrators including 80 to 100 Oberlin College students marched in front of the Federal Office Building in Cleveland. A line of mounted and helmeted police separated protesters from the doorway as the protest ended peacefully midmorning. Demonstrators arrived from Oberlin by bus and private cars carrying anti draft signs and civil rights sheets. Stop The Draft Week organizers linked the event to Northeast Ohio campuses.

66 Reds Die as U S Viet Troops Close In on Trapped Regiment
U S and South Vietnamese forces closed in on a North Vietnamese regiment trapped on the Bong Son Plains about 300 miles north of Saigon. The three day toll rose to 252 enemy dead, with 16 Americans killed and 90 wounded and 16 South Vietnamese killed and 19 wounded. Fighting also flared near the Cambodian border as U S troops repelled Viet Cong attacks on a new base. 29 Communists, eight South Vietnamese, and five GIs were reported killed in the Bong Son area.

Pup pulled from four inch drain after two day ordeal
A puppy named Rover was trapped in a four inch drain pipe at 232 Bond St for about 48 hours. Firemen and neighbors aided in the rescue before owner Jerry Smith retrieved the dog late at night. Rover was revived with blankets and baby food and showed signs of improvement the next day.

Keys reports record county tax collection
County Treasurer J Grant Keys announced a new tax collection record with 13 658 930 30 dollars for the period ending November 20. He credited faster processing and extra staff, including an auxiliary office in the Baker building, as well as two shifts, for the improvement.
