Costly Blaze Destroys Sandusky Dry Goods and Nearby Firms

Fire of undetermined origin struck downtown Sandusky today, engulfing the Sandusky Dry Goods Co., the McLean Co., and the William H. Frankel Co. in the three story Graef Building. Auto Passenger Awarded 2750 in Guest Injury Verdict

Stella Adamasiak of Lorain was awarded 2750 against Charles Krupski in a landmark guest passenger case under the new guest statute. The National Tube Company plant in Lorain will show a slight increase next week in operations. Steel production remains steady while cut pipe mill activity rises modestly. three blast furnaces and 11 open hearth furnaces stay in operation as the Bessemer converter runs double turn. The rail mill operates seven days beginning Monday, with S keep mills numbers one and five active through the weekend and through their respective completion days Tuesday and Thursday. Five-day runs start Monday for butt mill numbers two and six, lap mills two and five, and seamless mills one and two.

Finland Pays On War Debt

Washington reports Finland remains the only debtor country consistently paying its war debts to the United States. The Finnish government notified the State Department that the December 15 installment of 2239.453 will be paid in full and in cash into the Federal Reserve Bank in New York City.
