PPG Industries delays a $30 million automotive coatings plant in North Ridgeville saying the project moved too fast. Mayor Floyd Peace says the option on a 30 acre Taylor Woods parcel is renewed to Feb 8. City Council tabled notes financing Taylor Parkway improvements tied to the project. The plan projected 90 jobs and 4 million gallons yearly for GM.

Greyhound trainee bus kills striker near Zanesville
Area pickets say a Greyhound trainee bus killed Raymond L. Phillips as it turned in Zanesville. Witnesses say the bus did not stop and the driver likely panicked. Two strikers, Clarence Bornemann and Bill Shaffer, describe harassing behavior and the bus continuing after the accident. Phillips was knocked down by the front wheels and sustained fatal injuries. The incident prompted Greyhound to halt training in Zanesville while authorities investigate.
