The Trumbull county grand jury indicted 104 persons linked to the November 1 klan and anti-klan rioting in Niles. Gov Donahey may remove Mayor Harvey Kistler and Police Chief L J Rounds amid calls from both factions for accountability. Warrants planned for early next week with trials set for the January term.
The agricultural appropriation bill for FY 1925 26 totals 124 637 715 with 80 000 000 for road construction. This funding rises over the current year while a 46 700 000 balance from the cooperative road program remains to be provided in 1926 27.
Joseph Walker died at home on Williams street at midnight after a nine day illness. Born June 5 1835 in Arnsby England he arrived in America in 1842. He lived in Lorain county two years and Michigan three years. He leaves widow Mary and many children and grandchildren. Funeral at Avon Baptist church with burial in Avon cemetery.
Lorain reports the Red Cross has made 1,678 relief appropriations totaling $840,323 distributed. Work there is nearly completed and will be wound up as soon as possible.
The weather bureau issued forecasts for the coming week. Ohio Valley will have rain and mild temps Sunday night with snow flurries and much colder air from Monday, then a gradual warmup midweek. Rain or snow is expected later in the week. Great Lakes region faces much colder early in the week with snow in the upper lakes, rain turning to snow in the lower region, and a rise in temperature later in the week.
Albert F. Coyle executive head of the Co operative Movement in the United States and editor of the Journal of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers will address the Open Forum at the Church of Christ Sunday at 3 p m on cooperative democracy. Herman A Leedy will lead group singing and perform solos. The forum, under YMCA management, will feature weekly Sunday talks by leaders including Rev B C Hibler Dr W B Du Bois Coach John W Wilee Owen R Lovejoy Dr William Durant Norman Thomas and Judge Florence Allen with music by Elyria church participants. Doors open 2 30 p m and program begins at 3 p m.
Lorain police report Mrs Anna Echko of 3260 Vine Avenue will appear in police court on a liquor possession charge after a raid at her home last night. Authorities describe her as a chronic violator of liquor laws.
Captain William T. Turner, who commanded the Lusitania when torpedoed in World War I, sailed steerage on his recent emigration to Australia to shun luxury. Known as the invisible captain, he avoided gaiety and spent voyages overseeing navigation. He retired in 1919 and now lives in Plymouth.
Frank Villa twenty eight Italian and another man were captured south of Oberlin for possessing liquor with twenty five gallons of grain alcohol and an automobile seized. Villa claimed innocence citing language barriers and impending motherhood of his wife before Judge A R Webber released him on his own recognizance after he had earlier been fined one thousand dollars and serving the sentence.
The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks lodge will hold a lodge of sorrow tomorrow at 3 30 pm at the lodge rooms. Two members Dan Eason and W W Carlson died in New York this year. Attendee Frank A Stetson Past Exalted Ruler will deliver the day’s address and a mixed quartet will provide music. Public invited.
Sheriff’s deputies extended the search for the hit-skip driver who plowed into a crowd of workmen at Stop 7 on the Yellow Line yesterday morning injuring John Dallas. Witnesses saw the car cross tracks into the National Tube Co. plant area. Dallas was hospitalized with broken ribs and other injuries.
Loyd Contracting Co. of Xenia, Ohio, awarded a 2600 foot 20 inch water pipe project from Penfield Junction to Plank Road connecting a dead end main with the 86 inch line from the pumping station at a bid of 25991. Service Director J A Hewitt said the work safeguards the city and improves water flow especially over the high point between Elyria and Lake Er ie. Six bids were received from Lorain Cleveland Lodi and Amherst with the city likely to have 7000 to 8000 left from the bond fund after completion. the contractor will arrive Tuesday to sign.
Elyria’s early settlers built a log school in 1819 at Cleveland Ridge East Bridge streets with Miss Irene Allen as first teacher. The piece traces the evolution to today’s eleven modern schools led by Superintendent R C Maston, contrasting with the 19th century log and yellow houses.
New York December 6. Anna Buzzi proclaimed her innocence and said she expected freedom after being acquitted of the murder of her lover Frederick Schneder. Schneder, a contractor, was shot in his automobile on February 26, 1923, after a six and a half hour jury deliberation. Buzzi smiled as the verdict not guilty was read and talked of possible travel and movie offers.
Mrs Maude Billings of 930 Middle Avenue has passed the embalmer examination in Columbus. She recently took the test and expresses happiness over the result. She has longstanding ties with the Carl Taylor undertaking parlors.
Daniel E. Holmes, who led President Lincoln's funeral train, died in Cincinnati. He was widely known among railroad men from president to section hand for his long service and leadership in the industry.
A divorce was granted to Mable F. Cameron from Peter Cameron of Wellington on grounds of gross neglect. Judge W. B. Thompson approved the property settlement after a suit filed in 1933 and long court battles.
Frank Schaefer has filed in Common Pleas Court to collect 410 dollars on a note said to have been given to Otto and Amanda Kessler and assigned to Schaefer, involving defendant Sam Benjamin.
A large placard on the rear of an antique flivver warns “Don’t laugh, girls” and mocks flappers. The painted message drew many laughs from shoppers as the old car rattled through the business district.

The Logan Gas Company denies reports that the Ohio Supreme Court ruled its service charges illegal. The Lima case held a three year contract with no meter rentals or readiness to serve charges valid, and the Public Utilities Commission could not validate such added charges.

Wakeman Ohio December 6 Nicholas W Craddock 63 custodian of St Marys Catholic church was run down and killed by an automobile Friday. Craddock came to Wakeman from Cleveland twenty years ago. Get Your Dog Licenses licenses are issued at the county auditors office for the year. Dogs three months and older must be tagged. This applies to the entire county. Citizens living in Oberlin are required to pay two taxes in order for their pets. Applications license must be made before the first of the year.
