An Ohio and New Hampshire coalition of 200 citizens urged lawmakers to end stalemate on acid rain. The group backs a 50 state program to cut sulfur dioxide by 10 to 12 million tons in 12 years, funded by government contributions and fees, with broad support for immediate emission cuts and a small electric bill increase. They met with senators including Byrd Glenn Rudman and Metzenbaum to press for bipartisan action.
