Dying convict seeks early release contested in court
Lorain County Assistant Prosecutor opposes a dying inmate's bid for early release. William A. Sifers, 51, of Eaton Township, is serving 10 to 25 years for attempted aggravated murder of his ex wife Jacqueline Sifers and felonious assault on Kenneth Austin at Humpty Dumpty Inn in Columbia Township. Prosecutor Thomas Mangan argued the defendant acted in cold blood and showed no concern for victims' lives. Sifers sought release in a letter to Judge Adrian Betleski, who in 1984 gave a mandatory six year term without parole eligibility.
