Rise in Caesarean births signals shift in medical practice
Washington based UPI reports the DHHS annual health study shows C section deliveries rising from 5.5 percent of births a decade ago to 15.2 percent in 1978, with 510,000 surgical births. The report cites physician practice trends, improved fetal monitoring, and breech delivery hesitancy as factors, noting debates on maternal deaths and child outcomes while highlighting broader access to care.
