Federal move to list ice dependent seals as endangered

NOAA proposed ending protection gaps by listing ringed seals in the Arctic Basin and North Atlantic and two Pacific bearded seal populations as threatened under the Endangered Species Act due to shrinking sea ice from climate warming.
