Venice Endures Second Day of High Tide Flooding
Strong southern winds pushed the Adriatic Sea into Venice flooding the lagoon city after the worst tide in 20 years. Tuesday peaked at 3 feet 4 inches, far from Monday's 5 foot 1 inch record, yet enough to submerge St Mark's Square and other low areas. Jeweler Adriano Cavassoni described a calmer day after disaster yesterday.
