The Cleveland Indians ship Matt Williams to the Arizona Diamondbacks for Travis Fryman Tom Martin and about 3 million dollars. Williams signed a 45 million dollar extension with Arizona for 1999 to 2003.
Gail Abbey Death Ward and William Grace at large were sworn in Monday as the new City Council members. Abbey welcomed the moment and Grace, a two term councilman with prior mayoral bids, vowed to dedicate time to improve the city.
Elyria victims react at sentencing for Steven H. Steckman 50 convicted of molesting two teenage boys. A 16-year-old survivor demanded an admission of crimes while another, now 13 at abuse start, said a 30-year definite term isn’t enough and hopes to lead a normal life.
Elyria reports that a former hospital administrator, 52 year old Cluck of Amherst, will assume leadership of the Lorain County Blood Bank on January 5, succeeding Inez Ferrante who resigned amid pressure October 29. He met staff Monday and called the job a challenge as the Blood Bank faces union organizing activity and AFL CIO encouraged donations to Red Cross.
