Ridgeville council weighs gas and water rate hikes
The Ridgeville city council considers a 5.4 percent natural gas rate increase under a one year Columbia Gas Co contract and a 17 percent rise in water rates to fund a new 1.1 million gallon storage tank plus a potential 2.7 million dollar pipeline. The gas change would raise the average bill by 2.62 dollars and add a 3.95 dollar service charge. the water change would lift the average bill from 9.35 to 11.03 dollars with a minimum from 5.60 to 6.56 dollars. A special meeting is set to discuss further actions.

North Ridgeville debates Sunshine Law over meetings
North Ridgeville officials including City Law Director Jeffrey Manning argue that the state sun shine law exemptions allow closed deliberations on purchases such as a computer system. A Chronicle Telegram report noted a late hour council session to bid on a computer system faced scrutiny, while officials cite a Piqua ruling and broader exemptions. The dispute remains unsettled with future court action likely and multiple community notices follow.
